Portrait Ute Meyer

Ute Margarete Meyer is Professor of Urban Design and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Energy Engineering and at Biberach University of Applied Sciences. Inside and outside the academic realm Ute has established an innovative practice at the interface of research and impact driven profession. In 2018 she has launched the urbanes.land initiative with Martin Spalek to develop future perspectives for urban/rural territories and metropolitan fringes. The approach combines spatial, finance and governance aspects.

Ute has studied in Stuttgart, Rome, New York City and London and holds Master degrees from Columbia University and the London School of Economics and Political Science. She has lead research projects for the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR), the Future City Initiative, Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg and the Wüstenrot Foundation, among others. Ute is a member of HfG Ulm Foundation’s Board of Trustees, the German Academy for Urban and Regional Planning (DASL), the Association of German Architects (BDA) and the global LSE Cities Network.
