Martin Spalek

Martin Spalek is a planner at heart with a background in business administration, engineering as well as architecture and urbanism and has been a member of urbanes.land from the first minute. His research focuses on urbanized territories of intermediate density in Germany and Europe. In his work he combines a planner’s view on polycentric spatial structures, cartography and digital representation with his background in finance and cooperative production of space.

Martin has significantly shaped the institute’s approach to include holistic viewpoints, digital tools and social media data into an innovative transformational practice. Throughout his career he established himself as a joker across fields and scales – working as Project Manager and Consultant in IT, Infrastructure Planning & Finance and Education for corporations and non-profit organizations.

He will be moderator of the panel COORDINATED + EXPERIMENTAL at the Urban Land Conference.
